HPCL 2025 Season will start on Saturday, the 15th of March at the Harare Club Hotel. As the anticipation builds, we look at some of the best players to grace this season’s competition
FM Roy Mwadzura

Unassuming yet undeniably formidable, FM Roy Mwadzura is set to lead Waterfalls in their quest for their first-ever league title. His strategic prowess and calm demeanour on the board make him a force to be reckoned with. Roy is also a 2025 National Championship contender.
Delight Kagogoda

Delight Kagogoda was the undisputed Player of the Season in HPCL 2024. He played more games than any other player, participating in 21 out of 22 matches. He also had the highest winning record, securing victory in 19 out of 21 games. Additionally, he set a new record with an impressive unbeaten streak of 17 matches. Kagogoda was the talisman that secured Chitown Masters the 2024 League Championship.
Tanaka Katsande

HPCL 2023 Player of the Season Tanaka Katsande will play in the National Championship for a second time in 2 years after successfully defending his Candidates spot. Katsande is here to stay and we can only expect more improvement in the 2025 Season!
Amith Boddapati

Amith was the highest FIDE rating gainer in the HPCL 2024 season collecting an impressive 117 Elo points. Glimpses of his potential could be seen when he defeated a player rated 1931! The future looks promising and HPCL 2025 could be the season he gets to shine.
Spencer Masango

Spencer is leaving Asante to join the Immortals Chess Club as Board 1. This transfer could be one of the most impactful moves of the season. With an impressive record of 11 wins out of 13 matches from HPCL 2024, Spencer is expected to boost the Immortals this season significantly.
Emarald Takudzwa Mushore

Emarald had a lukewarm HPCL 2024 Season, perhaps due to a lack of consistent game time, winning only 2 matches out of 6. However, this does not clearly indicate what to expect from Zimbabwe’s reigning National Champion. As they always say, ” Form is temporary, but class is permanent.” Emarald is one to watch as he leads Harare City’s hunt for former glory
